Minerals in Water
Sep 22, 2023

Even KINETICO, which has the best engineers in the business, in my opinion, uses Calcium and Magnesium mined from the earth in its Enhanced Mineral Cartridge for Its best in class K5 RO system, and it’s inorganic. Even KINETICO says the minerals are beneficial. It’s just marketing! It’s essentially dissolved limestone like you get from underground spring waters or well waters. It may taste better to you, is all. God wants you to find a water that tastes good to you so you’ll drink a lot of it!

What I will tell you is that minerals are controversial. The WHO did a study many years ago now that shows that people in the third world, who have severe mineral deficiencies and who may have developed diabetes or blood disorders, may benefit a slight 1-2% by drinking water that contains even inorganic minerals, because their diet is so bad and they are very undernourished by their food. Some filter companies, over the years, have taken that thread and applied it to healthy American populations. Poppycock! It’s a foolish argument for Americans because we are so well fed and we are highly overnourished (fat)!

If there were organic calcium and magnesium cartridges out there that were sold to dissolve in your water, they would form bacteria quickly and cause health problems related to the bacteria.

You get organic calcium and magnesium from the food you eat and that’s where you should get them. If you are not eating right or your body has a vitamin or mineral deficiency for some reason, there are supplements to take for that, or you could just eat better!

There may be some sort of an organic cartridge on the market that has some sort of manufactured organic calcium and magnesium, but if there is, I am not aware of it, and all my training and research tells me that the only thing that minerals in water do for us is flavor it in a way that is pleasing to some people. However, taste is a very subjective thing from person to person, and I have known far more people who dislike the alkaline and sort of dirty taste that lots of minerals impart, than those that like it. That’s not any kind of scientific study, that’s just my testimonial from having served water and designed water systems for thousands upon thousands of people in my 33 years in the business.

It’s also well known that raising the oxygen content of water gives it a sweeter taste than the alkaline and heavily mineralized waters like Perrier and others. Again, these are subjective taste issues, not nutritional issues or science.

If you like the taste of minerals, buy the KINETICO enhanced mineral cartridge. I’m biased. I don’t like it. I like the sweeter taste of purified water better than the mineralized taste of alkaline water. Anything besides legally purified water tastes dirty to me.

By the way, rainwater is essentially distilled water without any minerals. So, which is natural? Which is God’s water? Rainwater or Well water? Rainwater or spring water? So God is perfect and He loves free will and He loves diversity, so just like he created black, white, yellow, red, and brown people, He created completely unique oceans, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, aquifers, and rain, all with their own unique characteristics. Which do you think is God’s original, perfectly pure H2O? All of it! It’s only man that’s dumped chemicals and germs and other forms of pollution into it!

I could go on, but hopefully, now you know that minerals are controversial, and there are a lot of opinions out there about them and that’s mine, based on 33 years of research with medical doctors, nutritionists, pharmacists, dentists, science professors, WQA teachers, and thousands of customers.

My opinion and my one goal have always been to make water as close to pure H2O as possible. We fiercely protect the water our Water for Life family drinks!

The real health habit from water is that it hydrates the cells of your body when you drink enough of it. That’s anywhere from 50 oz-200 oz, and it varies depending on your weight, age, etc. Did you know water also cools your body, it flushes toxins out of your body, it lubricates your joints, it allows the electrons in your brain to fire better, it makes up the biggest percentage of your blood, it starts and keeps all your vital organs functioning properly, but more important than anything is that whatever you add to H2O, in my mind, is a contaminant. Even dissolved limestone, which are the minerals most plentifully found in water. Even minerals can actually cause problems in your body, too, if you don’t pass them as waste properly. Calcium and magnesium can contribute to plaque in your brain, your heart, and your veins, and that’s never good!

So, eat right and get the organic calcium and magnesium your body uses to build strong teeth and healthy bones from green leafy veggies and a moderate amount of dairy. So exercise and you will build lean muscle mass. Take a supplement like Balance of Nature if you can’t eat enough fruits and veggies! When you drink, don’t drink too many calories, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, artificial flavors, or carbonation. Drink water in great quantity and you’ll be cool, lubricated, flushed, your blood pressure will stay at healthy levels, and all your vital organs will start-up in the morning and function well throughout the day!

When you eat, don’t eat too much goopy stuff that’s going to make you fat and lazy and plug up your organs, veins, arteries, and colon. And Drink… somewhere around half your body weight in ounces of water that tastes good to you because you can’t influence your health one way or the other with water… Except by drinking it in sufficient quantity. Reverse Osmosis or Spring, Alkaline or Pure, it doesn’t matter. Just stay away from tap water! Too much of that causes liver and kidney and birth defects and brain health issues.

One more thing: The older you get, the more you need water and the less coffee and Coke you should drink because your body dries up with age and older people need to dispel their toxins faster. It’s okay if you use the bathroom more. That’s a good thing! A cup a day in the morning is all the caffeine you should have, and if you drink water in the morning, you don’t even need that! If you drink water throughout the day up until 7:30 and don’t eat after 7:30, you can keep your body free and clear of toxins. Even your waste will be better! Clear #1, Not Yellow! well-formed #2, not diarrhea or constipation, and you’ll sleep better not stewing in your own toxins or causing your body to workout all night just digesting the food you stuffed down right before bed!

You know, I could sell a whole lot more enhanced mineral cartridges than I do. I’m just rather be honest about them. That’s my marketing!

A new study by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) published by eBioMedicine identifies the key role hydration is thought to play in the aging process. This new research serves as great proof of the importance of drinking enough water to stay properly hydrated. The study determined that middle-aged persons with higher sodium-to-water levels in their blood biologically age faster. They are also more likely to develop chronic diseases – such as diabetes, heart failure, and dementia – and to die prematurely. Decreased hydration levels were actually shown to accelerate the process of biological aging despite chronological age, our age measured in years from our birth. According to an NIH press release, “The results suggest that proper hydration may slow down aging and prolong a disease-free life,” said Natalia Dmitrieva, Ph.D., a study author and researcher in the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), part of NIH.

By Stephen T. Sinatra, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.C.N., C.N.S., C.B.T . To me, water is a gift from above, a living, nourishing substance important not just for life but for quality of life as well. Yet water is so taken for granted that people don’t tend to think of it in health or anti-aging terms. They should. Just look at a house plant when you forget to water it, and look again after you do. We are no different. In this article, I cover a wide range of topics as they relate to water, including some surprising relationships with common health conditions. Let’s get started: Water and Heart Disease Joint Pain, Ulcers, and Dr. “Batman” Water Facts Water and Weight Loss Ideal Water Intake

BOSTON - A new study published in the journal Pediatrics finds that a school-based program that encourages children to drink more water may help prevent excess weight gain over time. The Water First program provides classroom lessons, tap water stations, and schoolwide water promotion over an entire school year. In this study, a team at Stanford University studied more than 1,200 fourth-graders from 18 schools in California's Bay Area and found that the percentage of kids who were overweight 15 months later held steady amongst those exposed to the Water First program, but rose by nearly 4 percent at schools without the program. This suggests that providing kids with clean, readily available water and encouraging them to drink it may help prevent additional weight gain in these children.

Water for Life recommends North and a middle Georgia area homeowners follow EPA’s tips to keep contaminants out of the local water supply. Water for Life, a North and Middle Georgia water treatment company, encourages area homeowners to take steps to protect the local water supply during August to help recognize National Water Quality Month. "Fresh water is an essential resource and service, and we're extremely lucky to have an accessible and affordable supply of fresh, clean water available near Atlanta," said Pete Van Cleave, owner of Water for Life. "But we shouldn't take it lightly. We should all do what we can to be sure we continue to have fresh, pure water now and in the future." Van Cleave recommends area residents follow these tips from the U.S. EPA to help keep contaminants out of the local water supplies, which consist of rivers and lakes all over North and Middle Georgia that are open to microbiological contamination and chemical dumping and runoff: Wash your car at a car wash: Taking your vehicle to a car wash saves water and prevents toxic chemicals from being flushed down storm drains and eventually emptying into our clean water sources. Professional car washes are legally required to drain into sewer systems so the water can be treated before being reused. Pick up after your pet: Animal waste contains nitrogen, which can remove oxygen from water and leave it unsuitable for essential aquatic life. Use a rain barrel: Rain barrels collect rainwater that can be reused to water your lawn or garden. Avoid fertilizer made with phosphorus: After heavy rainfall or watering, these chemicals can leak into nearby groundwater sources. Use organic materials or wait for dry weather if you absolutely need to use lawn care products. Don't flush expired or unused medication: Pharmaceutical products contain toxic chemicals that should not be introduced to the water supply. Properly dispose of used oil and antifreeze: Drop off these materials at a service station or recycling center. In addition, Van Cleave urges homeowners to consider a free home water quality testing and a whole home water filtration system and reverse osmosis drinking water appliance. Since 2005, National Water Quality Month has been a time for Americans to think about the importance of fresh water sources and their impact on our health and our environment. Water for Life offers a range of over 110 home filtration systems, including carbon filters, reverse osmosis systems, UV filtration, water purification and water softeners and dispensing equipment from 15 different assemblers and manufacturers. Pete Van Cleave has been designated as a Master Water Specialist and a Certified Installer, he was twice past President of the Georgia Water Quality Association and a regent of the National Water Quality Association for the state of Georgia for many years. He has served on the advisory boards of General Electruc Smart Water Systems, Haws Corporation, the inventor of the drinking fountain and the Hydration Station, UGA’s State approved EPA lab, the Board of the International Facilities Management Association, where he was recognized as Associate of the year, and Cobb Mentoring Matters, where he was Mentor of the Year, and Water for Life has been designated as the Angi/Home Advisor Best in Category Award Winner every year since 2018.
